Joshua Randall

Waukesha, WI

Joshua Randall, from Waukesha, WI, started dancing at age 13 with Studio One Dance Company in Wales, WI after five years as a competitive gymnast with Salto Gymnastics in Brookfield, WI. At age 15, he continued his ballet training with MainStage Academy of Dance in Oconomowoc, WI under Artistic Director Eddy Bray. 

Upon graduation from high school, Josh furthered his education at Indiana University Ballet Theater where he received, with distinction, a Bachelor of Science in Ballet and an Outside Field in Psychology with an additional Minor in Animal Behavior. In Indiana, he trained under distinguished professors Sarah Wroth, Sasha Janes, Michael Vernon, Christian Claessens and Kyra Nichols and performed in works by various choreographers, including Sasha Janes, Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, George Balanchine, Durante Verzola, Mark Morris, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Justin Peck, and Michel Fokine. He also performed in operas with the university’s esteemed opera department, taught ballet to young children with Indiana University Jacobs Ballet Academy and had the opportunity to choreograph his own works on his peers. His favorite roles he performed were the Snow King in Sasha Janes’ The Nutcracker and the male lead in Michel Fokine’s Les Sylphides. Other memorable ballets were Ochoa’s Shibuya Blues and Bonnefoux’s Shindig. 

During his summers, he trained with Cincinnati Ballet’s Collegiate Intensive and the Chautauqua Institution in New York. 

Josh is excited to begin his professional ballet career with Madison Ballet!
