Emily DIETZ

Mountain View, CA

Emily Dietz grew up in Mountain View, CA, training at Western Ballet under Alexi Zubiria. She received additional training with ABT, Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet, Colorado Ballet, and American Repertory Ballet. She continued her dance education at Butler University, graduating with a BS in Dance Arts Administration. While at Butler, she performed in ballets such as Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake, and toured to Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. She also met her now-husband, Ben Shepard.

She began her professional career with City Ballet of San Diego and American Contemporary Ballet, performing in repertoire such as Betsey Wistrich’s Raymonda, Balanchine’s La Source, and Geoff Gonzalez’s Four Seasons. In 2018, Emily joined Verb Ballets (Ohio Contemporary Ballet), where she was featured in works such as Gerald Arpino’s Celebration, Heinz Poll’s Rococo Variations, Triptych, and Eight by Benny, and Stephanie Martinez’s Wandering On. She was fortunate to tour to Cuba to perform Romeo & Juliet with Laura Alonso’s ballet company, ProDanza. Emily is excited for her first season with Madison Ballet!
