Fana Tesfagiorgis - Modern
Fana Tesfagiorgis began her dance training in Madison, WI. She attended Ballet Madison under the direction of Charmaine Ristow. She continued to study and perform with Madison Ballet, under the direction of W. Earle Smith. Fana attended high school at Interlochen Arts Academy in northern Michigan, diving into the art form and her academic studies intensely. Valuing both art and education, she went on to attend The Ailey School/Fordham University where she earned her BFA in Dance with a minor in Journalism. She would spend her summers dancing at Earl Mosley’s Institute of the Arts in Kent, CT. Fana joined Ailey II upon graduation, under the direction and of Ms. Sylvia Waters. After 2 years, she began freelance work in NYC until joining the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in 2013, under the direction of Robert Battle. Fana has danced with Earl Mosley’s Diversity of Dance Inc., Brian Harlan Brooks’ Continuum, Alenka Cizmesja’s Art DeConstructed, Dance Iquail, Freddie Moore’s Footprints, and Samuel Pott’s Nimbus Dance Works. Ms. Tesfagiorgis has also been a rehearsal assistant for Hope Boykin, Earl Mosley, Pedro Ruiz, Matthew Rushing, and Sylvia Waters.
